rawneeI'm getting increasingly concerned about my contact lenses and trying to pin down the exact time when it all started going pear shaped.
I've been wearing contact lenses on and off for about 20 years mainly because I look a tw*t in glasses. I loved my contact lenses but was worse than lazy as I couldn't be arsed cleaning them, chucking them on a pot with protein remover tabs blah blah, then of course things change and daily disposables were invented, I got some but really couldn't afford them so left it for a few years and then decided that I would jack it in and get glasses again. I spent £150 on them and hated them as soon as I got them home so it was back to the optician to see what I could do about contact lenses. 'Here, try these. You can wear them for a month and you don't have to take them out at night'. Wheeeeeeee, brilliant...AND they are affordable. All went brilliantly for ages and then they started to get uncomfortable. For months I was cleaning them, using moistening drops, taking them out, putting them back in...it felt as though they weren't sitting just right on the eyeball and when I took them out it felt like someone was sticking a pin in my eye! All I could think was there was something wrong with my eyelid and the contact lens was stopping it irritating BUT when I put the lens back in again, it still didn't feel right. I have an appointment on Saturday for a check up and have been wracking my brains trying to think what the problem might be and the only thing I can think of is the amitriptylene that I'm taking for my headached. If this is the problem, I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. I need the amitriptylene but I can't bear the thought of not having my contact lenses. Guess I'll just have to wait and see what the optician says.
Has anyone else had similar problems? I believe that it's quite a common problem and that eye drops are recommended but I've tried that. Why is everything so bloody difficult????
