Well, it's almost over now and I haven't done a thing except walk the dogs and sit on here surfing and watching movies.

Robbie's dad finally rang today and it's agreed, Robbie is now officially living here. It doesn't actually mean a big change because Robbie spent most of his time here anyway and only went back to his dad's to sleep but life will be so much better with Robbie around. It actually went better than I thought with just the stuff that he wants to bring here to sort. He'll still have his room at his dad's and his sister will no doubt make sure there's room at hers for him when she moves so all is, dare I say it, looking good.

All we have to do now is get the council off our backs for a few months and get the compensation claim sorted...I make it sound so easy, don't I?

All the talk of vampires has brought back memories of Vampire the Masquerade. It totally fascinated me that there were actually people who enjoyed vampires and vampire lore as much as I do, even to the point where they enjoy roleplay in their leisure time. Geeky? More than likely. Fun? Definitely! Made even more so by the fact that our characters were so amazingly different. Paul was Gangrel; I was Ravnos, thieving gypsy scum he called me. So loving huh? He has such a way with words.

I miss it and wish we had time to play more often or even that there were more people around here who played.

If you're not the least bit interested but vampires interest you, it's worth reading through the World of Darkness wiki. It's great fun. Also, have a look at the links to the Book of Nod, the vampire 'bible'.

At least that's what I think I am, and have been, for a couple of years now.

I have another birthday coming up next week and here I am, hoping that I'll get some money to spend on Twilight goodies. Dear God. Surely I should have grown out of all this by now, but no. It's like a compulsion. You just have to read and watch more and more. Not happy with just the Twilight Saga and films, you find yourself looking for everything that the actors/actresses have ever taken part in. I have been pleasantly surprised with the films I have watched so far and still have a few to watch yet.

I've also realised that they have been in films that I've already seen so they aren't 'new' actors/actresses, they're already well established! We're always so far behind in the UK anyway, it doesn't surprise me.

Today has been a lovely lazy day. All weekends should be 3 days long. It's much more civilised. The only down side is having to do the ironing that I should have done today. Oh well, at least I have plenty to watch while I'm doing it! For now though, I shall be watching the rest of the MotoGP and entertaining myself on the internet.

*UPDATED* Waddya know, yet another adaptation of 'Wuthering Heights'. Needless to say, I'll watch it! lol

This is a 'blog of note' for this month which I found really interesting. I actually own 2 or 3 bookmarks that I use on a regular basis but I know Paul only has one that seems to have vanished into the ether and he uses any bit of paper or card that's lying around. I got to wondering what do you use as a bookmark? Turning down the corners of pages is a definite no-no in our house, even if it's a book you didn't particularly enjoy.

I have a fabric bookmark with a hedgehog on it that Gemma gave me, a fae bookmark that Colette gave me and a plastic doggy bookmark that I liked the look of so I bought it, but I don't like reading more than one book at once and feel guilty for not using them all.

I have a desperate need to collect more but my bank account can't stand any more spending at the moment....hmmmm, wonder what I'll get for my birthday??? Money perhaps?

I need a blog with all the filter functionality of LJ but the ease of adding widgets like Blogger.   Any suggestions?  (Please bear in mind, I'm only any good at basic html).

My son.

So laid back, he's horizontal. Nothing phases him except lateness. Weird. He hates being late!

Anyway, long story short. When I left his dad I was moving into student accomodation which, as I'm sure you can appreciate, was not the best place to bring up children. Their dad and I were living in his parent's house while they were abroad. The children stayed with their dad but would come over at the weekends.

Life moved on and Robbie has just done his GCSEs (got 13)! and has now decided he wants to live with us full time! I'm so glad because his dad said a couple of years ago that there was no way he would allow it. We let it go at the time but I told his father that once Robbie was 16, it was his decision to which he agreed.

So, now we have to change this and that and work out what Robbie wants to bring from his dad's to our house...oh yes, and I have to have a 'talk' with his dad!

It's no secret that I'm a huge Twilight fan. It drew me in from the first moment I set eyes on it. I don't have loads of merchandise but I do have one or two things and a couple of extra books aside from the Saga.

General opinion out there in the Real World seems to be that the Twilight Saga was written for 'young adults'. Whilst this might be the case, I believe there as just as many readers out there who are no longer 'young adults' and enjoy the books just as much if not more. I, myself, am a member of a group for over 25 Twilight fans and the discussions are far removed from 'Edward is hawt'.

What I don't understand is the Twilight Haters. Why is so much negative energy wasted on letting people know that you think they are mentally unstable just because they like something you don't? We know it's not the greatest work of fiction by any stretch of the imagination but we also know it is exactly that...fiction...fantasy...an escape from the crappiness of day to day life. Isn't everyone entitled to their own bit of fun? Since when did legal enjoyment have to be judged by others? Do you think that, by posting your thoughts on how much you hate the Saga, we would think, "Oh, wait a minute...perhaps I shouldn't like it. People won't like me if I tell them how much I like it". I'm an adult, I can think for myself and don't feel the need to log on to the internet to tell people how much I hate something.

It's like logging onto a fan forum and starting up a thread for 'haters'. It's counter productive. It makes no sense. Leave us be.

So, we were up and ready by 8.15 this morning and set off just after half past. Robbie remained his usual 'meh' self and by the time we got there, was so laid back he was almost horizontal. We met Gem and Andrew there and set off to find out what he was doing. A total of 13 GCSEs with 2 distinctions in IT! Go Robbie. Really proud of him and have treated him to a new game!

The rest of the day was even more 'meh'. I was knackered with staying up late and reading New Moon (again) and having to get up early. Managed to get a fair bit done at work and am slowly clearing the backlog. Thankfully it's quiet so I'm not finding it too hard to catch up.

ON is, as usual, doing my tree in! I just can't be arsed anymore.

Anyway, time for me to get an early night, should be able to finish my book tonight, and look forward to a long weekend!

Night all.

How much?

Imagine my surprise when I was'researching' Twilight merchandise and found this, this and this. It's got to be a misprint, right? I tried a few different sites and still couldn't find them but managed, in the end, to get myself a full set of the 4 books, all red-edged, for a total of £30! (One of them is being shipped from New Zealand, but what the hell. It's my birthday pressie from Paul)!

Good grief

As much as I love Twilight, there's an awful lot to be said for the 'more mature' vampire!

I have long been a Spike fan, I mean, he's such a bad guy, he tries so hard to play up to his bad guy image but he's just a marshmallow really.

I was lucky enough to meet and speak to James almost 2 years ago and how he kept his enthusiasm and banter with all those fans was beyond me. A truly lovely person!

Yeah, yeah, I know they have a job to do just like anyone else BUT there's a programme on at the moment where the bailiff is saying that sob stories don't affect him because everyone has problems. His son has a cleft palate and he has a hard time blah blah. Sorry? You want sympathy but you don't extend that sympathy? It works both ways matey. When we had a run in with one of your colleagues, it wasn't a case of sob stories or the fact that mail had 'got lost' ("we sent it so you must have got it". Hmmm, well OK then, I sent you a letter so you must have got that one if we're working on those principles. "No, we haven't got it". OK so what can I do now? "Nothing, it's already gone to the bailiff. We can't recall it").

Hiding to nothing springs to mind. We don't even have goods worth an awful lot and if they went ot auction, it certainly wouldn't add up to the sum total of our council tax!

We are in danger of having another visit from them because we can't pay our council tax just yet. We didn't go to court because we weren't disputing that we owe it (we're going to pay it all off when the compensation comes through) and we have sent income and expenditure forms to the council but they want approximately £150 more than we have coming in each month. They will continue to ignore anything we send them but, if we go to the Citizen's Advice Bureau and give them the same information, they'll take into account our situation! Bear in mind, it was the CAB who advised us to file fore bankruptcy. Do you know how much that costs?

Anyway, I digress. We went to the CAB last week, specifically making an appointment for when I was off work so I could go with Paul. Someone cocked up the bookings, they got the 19th confused with the 20th and double booked everyone! God help us! So, now he has to go back again, on his own. I just hope it doesn't rain or he'll be in agony.

It's like banging your head against a bloody brick wall. We're trying to do everything the right way and there's always some arse ready to bugger it all up for you. Thing is, there's nothing we can do about it. We have to go along with everyone else!
rawnee: (Default)
Give it up girl and admit you have a problem. You are a danger to yourself and to your girls. OK so this is the Sunday Mirror, but I think you owe a lot of people an apology for your behaviour and your words! Remember this? Your behaviour was disgraceful and no-one bought your explanation. You're the girl who cried 'wolf' aren't you?

It's totally and utterly dull and dreary today! I hate days like this. It's bad enough in autumn/winter but in August...just makes me feel miserable. It's not cold, so that's something but all the greyness is awful. I don't even have a sparkly vampire to make me feel better. I do, however, have a manic little terrier who always makes me feel better.

It's not helping that today is the last day of my holidays. I like my job but recently, it's just not the same. I was going to go to Borders and have a mooch round but I can't be bothered. It's only 13 miles away but I have to drive down one of THE most boring roads in the area. If it wasn't so dull, I'd ask Paul to take me on the bike but I can guarantee it would start raining either on our way there or on the way back so that's out. Apart from that, he wants to play on his PC now that he's sorted it out. He's had loads of problems with it but it seems to be sorted now, thank goodness.

I hate this feeling of apathy. I'm not convinced it's not linked to the fact I took 3 amitriptyline last night. I could feel a migraine coming on and managed to stop it but the headache was bad enough to send me to bed. I'm such a bloody wuss.

Anyway, I'm in the lounge, on my own and have 3 RPattz films to watch on my laptop. This is a novelty to me as I usually send Paul off to find things for me to watch but now I can do it for myself, I can download all sorts of crap that he wouldn't watch in a million years!
rawnee: (Default)
I started reading New Moon again last night. Of all the books, I can't decide if this is the worst one. Not because I don't like the story, far from it, I love them all. This one just hits a raw nerve now and then.

When Edward leaves Bella and says it will be as if he never existed, I remember Paul saying after he left, how he wished he could make all the bad memories go away and I would just forget about him. I know how Bella felt when she said she just wanted to hear his voice! The pages from when he left having nothing more than the month written on them were the same months that Paul was away from home. When Bella starts to pull out of her misery, it was in January...that was around the time Paul came home and my life picked up again.

I know it all sounds very 'amateur dramatics' and that's where the similarities end but most of us have known the pain of lost love and some never get that back again; others move on and realise it was a crush, a pleasant moment in time but not the real thing. I can honestly say that I have never, in my whole life, felt as helpless and lonely as I did then. It was only 6 months out of my life but I never want to feel that way again.

As much as Paul's a pain in the arse sometimes, he would do anything for me and give me anything I asked for if he could and I genuinely do love him. It's not been the perfect relationship by any stretch of the imagination but who does have a perfect relationship?

Married life didn't start off terribly well with the accident and it's been hard ever since, but we're getting by. We've realised that we're useless when we're not together.

OK so the weekend's only just started but it's also the end of my time off work. Where the hell did it go?

It's been a productive day though. I can't complain. I've got the last of the washing done, ironed what was waiting. Stocked up so no-one starves while I'm back at work next week, loaded and unloaded the dishwasher, changed the beds, walked the dogs and Paul's helped his friend build his computer! Hmmmm, what's wrong with thsi picture? Oh well.

While they've been out I finished off and also had a bit of a trawl round the internet. It's my birthday the week after next and whenever anyone asks me what I want, I always say, "I don't know". Not this year! Do they not realise how much Twilight stuff is out there???? (Which reminds me, I think I'll hazard a trip to Borders tomorrow to see if they have anything like the stock they have over in the States). First up, and not too expensive, is this lovely watch! I have to have it! I might even be able to buy it for myself with birthday money. I have to go into town anyway next week to get Gemma's birthday pressie, just 4 days after mine.

I've also spent the best part of my time off chatting to like-minded Twilight buddies. A great group of people and they don't think I'm weird at all! I can't believe how many Twilight fansites there are out there! I've never known anything like it. I know there are lots of sites for lots of different people/bands/actors etc. out there but I've never known anything like the Twilight phenomenon! I've never known a film have so many haters either! Seems such a waste of energy but if it floats your boat, who am I to spoil your fun?

We also treated ourselves to a Chinese take away last night, and very nice it was too. It's a fairly new restaurant and I think I can safely say, we'll be going there again.

Some time ago I ordered a "Cullen 17" t-shirt that took for ever to arrive and 3 days after the ETA, I emailed Cafe-Press who advised me that they would send out another one and if the original turned up, I could keep that one as well by way of an apology! The original one turned up the day after I'd contacted them and the replacement one has turned up today, so I now have 2! Result and fantastic customer service.

Paul's come back with 3 lottery tickets so, with a bit of luck, we might win a tenner! Anything would come in useful the way things are at the moment, but we've treated ourselves quite a lot over the past couple of weeks so I can't complain...there's still an awful lot of Twilight merchandise out there though and New Moon's out soon!

I posted this a few days ago and have since found out a bit more! As I understood it, from a very reliable source, he dumped you cos you're a psychopath, you didn't dump him. Is it your selective memory again?

And as for S...away for a few days and back friendless? Says a lot more about you than me. All the things you turned around on me a couple of years ago are actually the things that are happening to you now! It doesn't surprise me, you are a nasty spiteful person and what goes around comes around but you still won't see it, will you? You'll push the blame onto everyone else as always.

Just remembered I was watching this last night. I love stuff like this, even if some of it is questionable, it's entertaining to say the least.

So, they mentioned this website and a hobby for many American youngsters called 'legend tripping' where they look up haunted locations and visit them and post what has happened on Chad Lewis' websites.

Feeling a bit crap today. It think it's money related...again. We had to go to CAB this morning about our Council Tax. Basically, the Council want all the info we've already given them but it has to come from CAB. It's not enough that we're telling them.

Anyway, Paul has to go back again because some numpty at teh CAB double booked everyone and cocked up the booking system. Fantastic. And we're counting on these people to help us out of the sh*t? I think not.

Anyway, all that's by the by for now. I have to dig out how much we owe to people and how far behind we are etc. etc. ready for Paul to go back again the week after next!

So, everywhere I go I see people posting about how skint they are, they don't have enough for this and that; people who need a holiday...yeah, me too, I haven't had one since my son was 3 and he's 16 now! "Get £2000 scrappage allowance for your old car when you buy a new XXXXXXX"...errrr, I can't afford a new car even with £2,000 which is why I'm driving round in this clapped out old banger!

Yet another bloody programme about Michael Jackson...not many people had a good word to say about him when he was alive and now he's a saint! I hate hypocrisy!

A recent conversation about not being able to get a job brought forth the following statement: "It's not what you know, it's who you know"! WTF? I've been working for the past 30 years and for each job I've had, it's been because I 'know' someone? I don't think so. It's been because I needed to work to survive. I've packed crisps, I've packed biscuits, I've done hairdressing, I've done shopwork, I've done clerical and now I'm an office manager...all on my own merits thank you very much. If you don't really want to work, that comes across in interviews. If you really do want to work, you're willing to give anything a go, I don't care what you say. I know we're in a recession but, let's face it, you're happy staying in full time education aren't you?

If you're really so skint, stop buying £300 shoes. You don't know how to cut down your shopping bill? Stop buying ready made meals! Bloody hell, you don't need a degree in home economics you know!

The human race...I give up!

It's really little wonder that they're struggling. Once again we have been waiting for something to be delivered, we'd paid extra for next day delivery, on going to the tracking site, were told that an attempt to deliver it was made this morning. Errr, no, it wasn't, but I bet I know where he did try to deliver it! I rang Customer Service and they took my number, rang me back after about an hour and said he would call back with it. True to his word, he turned up about half an hour ago. He didn;t use sat nat, he did have the correct postcode but he's not from round here so he didn't know there were 2 Windsor Road's within a mile of each other! What???? I give up.
