Yes, I do but I don't think they realise it's regret

i don't think they do. i think they do whatever is right for them and regret implies the ability to look back and make judgements on what they did. i can't see my cat regretting throw3ing up his food on his bed, or chewing his toy to pieces, because they just move on. lucky things
