I don't know about you and maybe it's because we're lucky that we all have our own, but I find computers to be very personal things.  I have mine set up 'just so' with only a few icons on the desktop and the start menu is organised into categories.  My husband is just as anal about his and we find that we don't use each other's unless it's absolutely necessary.  It's not that we're well off, because we aren't.  We've managed to cobble together a couple of desktops from bits and pieces that we've cannibalised and Robbie and I have our own laptops.  When Gemma comes round, she'll bring hers too.  Such a sociable family.

It's not even that any of them are used for business.  Mine is primarily for email, networking sites, blogging and writing letters / documents.  Paul's is for music and games and Robbies is for games and homework.

I have a problem with my computer at work in that I can't set it up just how I want it and get rid of all the crap on it.  I have to leave most of it on in case any of the others in the office stops working but I hate it.

Do you share your computer with anyone or do you insist in having your own?

I have to have my own. When Gil needed a new battery I just was not on line. Using the one at work feels like cheating.

Hahahaha yup! There's absolutely nothing on mine that shouldn't be there but it's too weird watching someone else using it!

I have so much extra crap installed, my entire music collection, email history forever, etc on the puter that I'm not sure I'm even functional on another. But as it's also been my work for years, I'd be utterly lost.

(currently have the main desktop, a slightly creaky laptop and a second desktop... and they're ALL MINE I tell ya). Then there's the Linux box, and prob 4 trade-ins (destined for tip). Did I mention daily on LJ I Need a life? ;)

Actually, I have no problem with someone else using any of mine... used to have accounts for the ex and my daughter, but there's usually enough PCs around for everyone to have a couple :D

I'd be happy with one PC, but another half dozen screens wouldn't go amiss!

God yes. I keep saying I need 3 screens at work...one for accounts, one for bookings and one for everything else....bliss!

Trouble is, once you've had more than one screen it's almost impossible to go back. lol

Yeah, I can imagine. It would be too much to hope for where I work though lol

OMG you should see us right now. One sofa, two people on it, with three lappies. Ian's using two right now; me, I have mine. But my 'main' pc is actually in the dining room. Oh and the main telly, the one we're watching now, is supported by Media Center, so another computer in the room. I can't remember if Ian's got more upstairs in his study, he might have. In our defence, Ian works in IT and all of the lappies, even the one I pilfered, actually belong to his company, not just to him. Still, we're slaves to modern technology!

I have an old one in the dining room that is hooked up to the printer so is mainly used for network printing and playing my games that won't run on Vista but I don't like sitting in there for some reason. The dining room is used for drying washing and Christmas dinner...oh and it's somewhere to walk through to get to the garden. I've toyed with making it a 4th bedroom for Paul...

I used to share, but having mine own is lovely.

I don't like it if I'm off work and someone uses mine. They move the mouse and keyboard and I spend ages getting it just right again, *lol*

I know what you mean. I can't stand using someone else's at work cos their desktop icons are all over the place and I can't find anything. I'm a bit anal about stuff like that and I have folders within folders all neatly sorted lol. I need to get out more!
