We all know there was a big fuss about FB changing their terms and conditions to give them ownership of what was posted on their user's pages, but I wonder how many of us have actually read the Terms & Conditions on the sites we sign up for?
FB are now admitting that users should retain complete control over what they post and that ex-users can request that all their posts etc. are removed. I was a frequent poster (and a moderator) on a forum that changed it's T&Cs after I left (long story, suffice to say a few of us left under a cloud). They were changed to state that the forum owners held copyright over everything that was posted.
Any other forum I have any association with has always informed it's members before it changed it's T&Cs to allow it's members the oppportunity of refusing to continue their membership, but not this one.
As I hadn't agreed to this and asked that all my posts and anything referrring to me be removed, I was told that "no, they wouldn't be removed because it was a 'public' forum (the clue is in the name)". Interesting to note that the 'public' forum has now been made 'members only'.
