I'm curious.  What made you all choose LJ over any other blogging site?

I used to have a blog on Blogger.com but found that I had to have one set up for public stuff, another for friends only and another one for family only as it wasn't as easy to set filters as it is on here.

What other social networking sites do you use?

I have MySpace, because it's the one I've used the longest and it's customisable but most of my friends and family are only on Facebook.  I did dabble in Bebo, but I hated the name of it and thought it was too twee for a 40+ mother of 2 teenagers.

Other than that, the only other sites I use regularly are Twitter, MAF and Rewind Bikers.

I love LJ the most because of all the communities... it reminds me of the good old newsgroups. I also have Facebook, Twitter and Myspace accounts; FB I'm not too keen on at all and I hardly update it, MySpace I like a tad more but I still hardly ever update it, and Twitter I'd say is my second fave (after LJ) because I can send little messages to certain lovely people and it makes me feel like I know them. OMG that's sooo sad lol.

LOL, no, not sad at all. I love being able to sit down at night in the comfort of my own home and chat to whoever I choose and not have to shout above noise and get a drink or something to eat whenever I like lol

None of the celebs have actually replied to me but I have to admit I was chuffed to little mintballs when Stephen Fry started following me!

I use LJ cause its the most secure, easy to set up, and filterlicious. I also have MySpace for school stuff cause they can't get a real networking site due to stupidity lol and FaceBook for family etc.

Yeah, totally agree. I have enough crap that I swap and change on other sites so to have everything in one place with LJ is brilliant. I don't even mind paying for it lol

Nope. I keep thinking of a permanent account as it would pay for itself in a few years - but its one of those will LJ be around in a few years and will I still care lol

Yeah. I'll keep it for the time being but, as you say, how long will I want to keep it? I wonder if I'll still be posting when I'm retired lol
