Have you ever had a bad break-up with a significant other? How did you handle it?
Yes, absolutely.
Basically, I'd met someone else and I suspected he had as well but had no proof. I told him I didn't love him any more and that was that really. He wanted to go to marriage guidance and stuff but I just didn't feel the same about him. The hardest part of that was leaving my children as the house we were living in belonged to my in-laws so I couldn't really throw my husband out and I didn't want my children living in student housing. Apart from that, it was what I wanted so handled it pretty well.
That was particularly bad. He was on meds for his depression and moved into a horrid little bedsit in the next town. He was going through a really rough patch and got together with someone that his family didn't like. (They kept in touch with me). Anyway, after a lot of nastiness and threats I decided I couldn't cope any more and ended up being treated for depression as well. Seems neither of us was any good without the other so we sat down and had a good talk and he came home in January 2005.
